Barbati beach
Barbati is one of the ideal family beaches in Corfu on the east coast. Large and beautiful white pebbles shine beneath the slopes of Mt Pandokratoras. Comfortable sun loungers and an ice-cold cappuccino on the beach with plenty of shade if you prefer. The bus to Barbati stops outside Spiti Prifti but it does get pretty busy in August.
Chalikounas beach
Chalikounas beach stretches wild and free along the southwest coast of Corfu. A golden stretch of sand embraces shallow warm crystal clear waters, loved by kite surfers and nature enthusiasts alike. The entire area is a natural wonder with Korission Lake running parallel to the beach. A small beach bar sells sandwiches, cocktails and soft drinks. There is no bus service but definitely worth exploring.
Paleokastritsa beach
Paleokastritsa is famous for its breathtaking coastline of cave studded green-blue waters. There are a number of beaches in the area, some of which are best visited by boat. Small traditional boats leave the main harbour, to drop off and pick up visitors on secluded inaccessible beaches on the central west coast. Water temperatures tend to be cooler on this side because the sea is deeper and perfect for diving.
Glyfada beach
One of the most popular Blue Flag beaches on the island, Glyfada is also called the golden mile, for it is a beautiful stretch of golden sand on the central west coast of Corfu. Some trendy beach bars are located here. But the thing is that Glyfada essentially remains a family beach resort. Regular bus service leaves from the Green Bus Station.
Paleopolis beach
This is a spectacular swimming location, within the archaeological grounds of Paleopolis in the south of Corfu Town. Past the palace where Prince Philip was born, through thick vegetation and ancient temples you arrive upon a stone jetty used by royalty and town folk alike. There is nothing quite like it as an experience, that conjures up mythic tales from another dimension.
